Recreation Aide - YRTC-Kearney Full Time

The Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney is looking for a Recreation Aide, to oversee youth participation in recreational programs both on and off campus.

Location and address of position: YRTC-K 2802 30th Ave. Kearney, NE 68845

Work schedule: 40 hours including weekends, holidays, and evenings

 
Examples of Work
Monitors youth and participates in recreational and educational activity programs. Provides input as to changes in activities for youth based on observations. Keeps a written log of youth behavior. Assists in monitoring recreational activities; intramural sports, open gym, recreation classes, recreation block, swimming pool, office campus activities. Instructs youths in rules, regulations, and procedures of activities, and care and maintenance of activity equipment and supplies. Maintains sanitation of recreational facilities; swimming pool, locker room, gymnasium. Escorts youth to appointments and activities outside the institution. Completes documentation as required. This position is full time. Schedule includes weekends and two evenings.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Experience with or knowledge of facilitating or providing recreational activities such as music, games, or other social activities. Experience or training in recreational activities such as music, games, or other social activities. Must be able to obtain Lifeguard certification in the first 3 months of employment.

OTHER: Valid driver's license and/or ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: rules, regulations, and strategies of sports and other recreational activities.

Ability to: successfully complete training courses in CPR, self-defense, behavior modification treatment programs and first-aid; learn to handle residents in all stages of development and rehabilitation; explain rules and regulations of sports and recreational activities in a positive manner; communicate effectively by giving instructions and documenting resident participation; understand the behavior modification treatment programs; actively participate in activities such as sports, swimming, games, and music.
