Math and Physics High School Teacher
This is a position in a private school in the Dominican Republic (Saint David School, Santiago). In addition to the monthly salary this position includes a furnished apartment, running costs and return airline ticket between the USA and Dominican Republic, medical insurance and other benefits.
· Ninth Grade (Algebra I)
· Tenth Grade (Geometry)
· Eleventh Grade (Algebra II)
· Twelfth Grade (Pre-Calculus & Physics)
Student-centered methods, differentiated teaching strategies, project based, collaborative learning strategies and assessments work well in our classrooms.
- This teacher may collaborate with homeroom teachers and other staff members who work with this age range.
- We only have one group per grade. Class sizes vary but the majority are between 25-30 students.
- This teacher works closely with other Science teachers both in the American and Dominican Science Curriculums. Students visit the Laboratory in small groups and this is considered an important experience. We use co-teaching with support staff during lab visits.
- In his or her role as a teacher the person acts as a mentor for his/her groups. The teacher should show concern for students’ academic and personal needs, coordinating meetings with other members of staff, the coordinators and parents when necessary.
- Students participate in a Math, Science, Social Studies and Technology Fair.
- Students participate in artistic and cultural presentations
- This position includes responsibilities in the After-school program; where academic help reinforces individual success.
- Teachers may opt to work in other after-school activities (team sports, music & theater groups, ecology group etc.) if so desired.
