Certified Master Social Worker - Western Service Area

DHHS Children and Family Services has a new and exciting opportunity for a Certified Master Social Worker in the Western Service Area. This position will support our statewide resource development team in developing wrap around services which allow children to remain in a family home, develop placements options for children who are unable to remain in their family home and focus on the disproportionate numbers of African American and native American children involved in our child welfare system. The CMSW will complete parenting assessments, which are currently being court ordered by juvenile courts across Nebraska. This position can be located in North Platte or Gering Nebraska. Recent and soon-to-be Master Social Work graduates and provisional Certified Master Social Workers will be considered at a lesser salary of $20.984.

Location of position: Western Service Area - North Platte or Gering office

Work schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. with occasional weekends based on the needs of the service area
 
Examples of Work
Provides clinical consultation to child protection and support staff.Compiles social and behavioral information from various sources to develop social histories and psychosocial assessments vital to the development of a client's treatment and discharge plans. Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team; provides information regarding a client's social history and psychosocial assessments and addressing specific client needs; participates in the development of a client's active treatment plan. Monitors and evaluates clients' success in a defined treatment plan and progress toward established goals; provides recommendations to members of an interdisciplinary treatment team to make adjustments to a client's treatment plan. Provides casework assistance to clients and families in the solution of financial, health, educational, recreational, employment, personal, and family problems. Formulates, coordinates and implements client discharge plans by completing referrals to placement and aftercare agencies and providing for financial arrangements; conducts follow-up assessments and evaluations. Serves as an advocate for clients by coordinating referrals to various service agencies. Serves as liaison with service agencies consulting on client cases to ensure efficiency and continuity in providing services. Provides utilization management for Letter's of Agreement and out of state placements, working with the Managed Care Organization. Provides assistance in resource development and in policy and program development and evaluation. May conduct research of case files, reports, journals, and other pertinent documentation to facilitate therapeutic/treatment goals.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in social work and two years of Master Social Worker experience. Certification, or certification eligible, as a Master Social Worker as required by NE. Rev. Statute 38-2128.

PREFERRED: Experience working with youth.

OTHER: Recent and soon-to-be Master Social Work graduates and provisional Certified Master Social Workers will be considered at a lesser salary of $20.984. Incumbent must obtain required licensure before they can start work in this position. Experience working with children and families with DHHS is preferred
