Job Summary: Under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play an integral role in supporting departments across the business in all financial matters relating to daily, weekly, and monthly review and maintenance of reports, balance sheets, and set-up and configure accounts. This role will apply a high level of financial and accounting knowledge to create, review, analyze, and evaluate policies, procedures, systems, and reports relating to company finances.

Essential Duties:
• Set up and maintain eRequester (payment request system) daily.
• Perform daily maintenance on Great Plains (GP) account configuration (create, deactivate & review)
• Perform weekly deposit review with Cash Manager.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliation.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, including:
• Payroll accrual & reversal.
• Recognition of deferred revenue
• Expense accruals: utility bills, insurance, SWAP interest
• Prepaid expense amortization
• Construction in Progress (CIP transfer from capital equipment 8001)
• Willowbrook Apartments (monthly subsidiary JE)
• Bond cost amortization
• Wells Fargo bond payment account
• Fixed asset additions and depreciation
• Amex travel expense reallocation
• Vivarium expense transfer
• Investments
• Fringe Benefits
• Indirect Cost (IDC)
• Accounts Receivable & Revenue
• Annual audit support (prepared by client list)

Required Qualifications:
• Regionally Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Minimum Requirements:
• Two (2) or more years of grant accounting experience; accounting in a University setting; Great Plains general ledger maintenance and smart-list report creation; eRequester payment request management systems including account set up and maintenance; and Access database, desired.
• Three (3) to five (5) years senior accounting experience (preferably non-profit)
• ERP or systems implementation experience.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Work well with others.
• Manage time well and able to meet deadlines.
• Able to manage dueling priorities.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• Able to take and follow directions well.

Preferred Qualifications:
• CPA license (preferred)
