Temporary Social Services Worker - Omaha

Do you have a passion for making a difference in fellow Nebraskan's lives? Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is looking for excellent customer service-skilled individuals to join our team in Child and Family Services supporting Economic Assistance (EA) or Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) supporting the Medicaid program. This is a temporary, one year assignment with opportunities to apply for a permanent role!

Location: OSOB currently. Work may be moved to Intake Center.

Schedule: 8am-5pm, M-F

Salary: $14.678/per hour as a Trainee or $16.798/per hour as a Worker
 
Examples of Work
As a Social Service Worker your day would include:

• Interaction via telephone with customers of varied socio-economic levels
• Collecting financial and demographic information
• Access computer databases to update, document and verify customer information accurately
• Providing an exceptional customer service experience to our MLTC and CFS customers.

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIRMENTS: 24 semester hours of post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, examining/processing financial loan applications, medical or unemployment insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment services, OR a combination of education and experience in any of the above areas. What We

PREFERRED: Call Center Experience or demonstrated experience in a customer contact setting; demonstrated computer experience, MS Excel, MS Word; Outlook, database experience a plus; phone based customer service.

OTHER: Mandatory attendance during initial 8 week classroom training. Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge, skills or experience relating to database use, telephone based customer service, and call center experience. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate proficient data entry computer skills while communicating with customers, must be able to multi-task and navigate between various computer systems, have good communication skills and are customer focused, have the ability to learn quickly and successfully via webinars and on-line courses. Must have good time management skills and be able to set and manage priorities.
