Application Programmer

Application Programmer Role with Evergy

With direct supervision, this position assists in developing, maintaining and documenting the detailed logic of part of a complex application program/business function, modifying existing routines or modifying purchased application software.

• Assists in the design and encoding of applications.
• Assists in the testing and debugging of applications prior to implementation.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of application documentation.
• Assists in monitoring applications to ensure maximum performance.
• Assists in maintaining and enhancing applications to address newly discovered problems or new requirements.
• Assists in backup and recovery procedures and processes.
• Follows policies and procedures to ensure corporate data security.

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory
• Familiar with standard concepts, best practices and procedures related to application development. • Acquainted with application systems/business functions. • Communicates effectively with other technical staff. • Establishes cooperative relationships with members of the technical team. • Establishes cooperative relationships with end-users. • Manages time effectively while assuring attention to details. • Finishes tasks accurately, completely and on time. Education/Experience Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related field OR 2 years of application programming experience
Ideal Candidate
Candidate will be responsible for providing day to day support for the monitoring applications, assisting with project information systems analysis, application testing (monthly security patching), ERTS Requests (Application Access), AdHoc Queries from database or systems, work service requests. Creating and maintaining support documentation. Creating and maintaining guidance for Tier 1 Support. Peer check/code review with Tier 3. No update/destructive scripting. Limited ready only querying. Coordinating running scripts provided by Tier 3 with production coordinators. Candidate should have 2-4 years experience with Query writing in various tools and languages (SQL, BI, ect.). Experience with potential application development (C#, Javascript, React). Familiar with common coding languages and environments to aid in troubleshooting. Knowledge of debugging/logging tools (browser web developer tools, event viewer,etc).
This position requires the candidate to be a US Citizen. Candidate will be required to complete the supplier onboarding requirements as well as an extensive background investigation by Wolf Creek which includes a credit check as well as a drug and criminal history screening. Random drug testing is also required. Candidate cannot start their assignment until both are complete. The badging process will be in person but the resource selected will be permitted to work from home as long as remote working orders are in place for Evergy. If asked they may need to report on occasion in person during this time. Once remote work is lifted candidate will be expected to report to Wolf Creek Work hours are Mon-Thurs with 10-hour shifts starting at 6:30 AM or 7 AM. This project is expected to last 2-3 years. The end date listed on this REQ is in compliance with the Evergy tenure limit, extensions will be granted as needed toward the end of the 18 months.
