Field Service Technician 1

WesTech Engineering, Inc. provides process solutions for water and wastewater treatment, liquids/solids separation, and biological treatment needs worldwide. We have an immediate need for a Field Service Technician to provides technical/engineer field service support for the start-up and repair of equipment at job sites. Travels to job sites in US and internationally, checks installations, verifies document accuracy, assists with new plant start-ups, troubleshoots process, makes adjustments and repairs, works with contractors, prepares thorough records and trains operators. 

Essential Job Duties:
  • Process and control startup of equipment, mechanical and control system trouble shooting and training of plant personnel with several different types of equipment.
  • Conduct shop inspections, installation of structural steel components at jobsite, erection and start-up assistance.
  • Provide warranty repair and problem resolution.
  • Travel approximately 75% of the time, 90% being domestic, 10% being international, often on weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent. 
  • Three or more years of experience in related fields.
  • Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Customer service oriented and able to represent WesTech favorably to customers
  • Experience detailing of mechanical or equipment similar in nature to WesTech equipment.
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Good oral and written communication skills to transfer knowledge and information about equipment operation and maintenance to others for their complete understanding.
  • Personal computer skills, e.g Outlook, Word, Excel 
  • Good problem solving, logic, and mathematical skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to plan own work.
  • Good interpersonal skills to explain technical information in an understandable and convincing manner

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Two year degree or higher in a mechanical trade program, programming or engineering.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and water treatment principles and practices.
  • A working knowledge of controls instrumentation setup and troubleshooting.
  • Programming knowledge of Allen Bradley SLC and panel view programming.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and written information.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work at a workstation with a computer/phone system.
  • Regularly required to move around the facility and customer sites.
  • Some lifting may be involved, (50-70 lbs), specifically when in the warehouse area(s).
  • When at job sites will be required to inspect equipment. This may involve:
  • Bending/stooping/walking on ladders, walkways, catwalks, (may involve heights).
  • Exposure to elements; cold, heat, wet, and/or dark. May be in a safety harness.
  • When in fabrication shop, may involve utilizing hands in and around mechanical parts.
  • Comply with all safety regulations.
  • May be required to be clean-shaven for proper respiratory equipment.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of power tools (especially welding and cutting) used in metal fabrication, hand-held tools, and diagnostic and measuring devices to inspect, build, and repair equipment.
