Corrections Counselor I

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing all duties through a team approach to risk management that addresses criminogenic indicators and needs. The work of this position requires ongoing proactive communication and interaction with inmates. Assists inmates assigned to caseload with adjustment to incarceration, program completion, rule compliance, release planning and reintegration into the community. Utilizes and demonstrates risk reduction skills including motivational interviewing and cognitive strategies. Attends Kansas Parole Board hearings for assigned inmates. Assists uniformed security staff in times of emergency.
