INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITY: Scripture Engagement Consultant

Today, over 1600 people groups, 114 million people, still don’t have the Bible translated into their languages! Wycliffe USA believes the Word of God can transform lives when people hear it in their own language, and we urgently need you to join the team!
As a supported* Scripture Engagement Consultant, you would work with people in West Africa to help them truly apply and engage with Scripture in their own languages, using a variety of innovative media, programs and resources.
Job Location: Burkina Faso or possibly Côte d'Ivoire
Want to work in a different location? Wycliffe USA has many open positions located in Africa, Asia, Europe, Americas, and the Pacific! Even though this job is located overseas, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States as per U.S. employment laws.
What Might You Do?
Every day is different! One day you might train and mentor local colleagues in Scripture Use. Later you could provide leadership and advice to new programs. Another day you might develop new Scripture Use materials and check others.
This job might be for you if…
- You demonstrate the desire and ability to support corporate Biblical and religious goals and participate in regular work-related spiritual activities without reservation (Spiritual Bona Fide Occupational Qualification)
- You are fluent in French and are willing to learn the local language.
- You have the ability to assess a situation and provide relevant suggestions within a short timeframe.
- You are trained and love to mentor people and teach groups.
- You are passionate about helping people learn to access Scripture.
- Handling and facilitating funding for projects doesn’t scare you.
- You have had coursework in Scripture engagement, missiology, language and society, basic linguistics and language learning, and anthropology.
- You have previous multicultural experience.
*ABOUT SUPPORTED POSITIONS
Wycliffe Bible Translators is a faith-based organization, and as supported staff (missionary) you will receive a non-traditional salary (including benefits and ministry expenses) through the faithful giving of your personal partnership team. We provide extensive training and resources as you build your financial and prayer partnership team.
Non-traditional salaries are needs-based determined by factors of housing and personal expenses based on geographic location, including dependents and their ages, retirement savings, ministry expenses and taxes. Although salaries vary significantly and it’s not possible to provide an exact number for this position, a typical non-traditional salary for a missionary household is $42,600 to $80,982 annually. These salaries do not include your partnership-raised funds for health insurance, worker’s compensation insurance, or Wycliffe assessment.
