A thriving, mission-driven multimedia organization, NPR produces award-winning news, information, and music programming in partnership with hundreds of independent public radio stations across the nation. The NPR audience values information, creativity, curiosity, and social responsibility – and our employees do too. We are innovators and leaders in diverse fields, from journalism and digital media to IT and development. Every day, our employees and member stations touch the lives of millions worldwide and that includes our interns.
From day one, interns at NPR are given real-world, hands-on responsibilities. Working alongside top professionals in the field, interns do meaningful work across a variety of departments at NPR.
Across our organization, we’re building a workplace where collaboration is essential, diverse voices are heard, and inclusion is the key to our success.
NPR’s Fall 2020 Internship Program will be fully remote.
Program Duration: September 8 - December 11, 2020
Embedded is NPR’s documentary news podcast. We do deep, narrative dives into the lives of the people living the news; Whether it’s a journalist covering gang violence in Central America, or a town in a bitter legal battle over the golf course of a future president.
Rough Translation is NPR's long-from, narrative podcast about far away stories that hit close to home. The show works closely with NPR’s International Desk and foreign correspondents.
Both podcasts have some exciting projects in the works and are looking for a curious, eager, smart intern to help us create these shows. This internship is an opportunity to work with award-winning teams on all aspects of podcast production — including scouting for stories, booking interviews, conducting pre-interviews and interviews, research, writing and assembling drafts, editing audio, and scoring. Additionally the intern will learn how to promote the episodes on social media.
