School Psychologist

Scope of Responsibilities
Actively participates as a member of building support teams in order to assist with data, programs, assessments, interventions, and problem-solving needs. Leads the multidisciplinary evaluation team, collects, analyzes, and interprets data and participates in the special education identification process.
Performance Responsibilities
1.   Participates as a member of the building support team to assist all students in making academic progress. This includes serving as a data expert, program expert, assessment expert, and interventionist specialist utilizing Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS, Response to Intervention (RtI), and Positive Behavior & Literacy Supports (PBLS).
2.   Uses data based decision making to lead a problem-solving model in dealing with student academic and behavioral concerns.
3.   Consults with principals, staff members, and parents/guardians to assist students in making academic progress.
4.   Aligns goals and objectives from the building team process to meet the needs of students; in addition may make home visits to assist with information collection, family resources, evaluations, and supports.
5.   Reviews, analyzes, and revises implementation plans and interventions, monitors integrity of strategies and plans.
6.   Utilizes a variety of assessments to determine the need for special education services, Section 504 plans, functional behavioral assessments, or academic/behavior plans.
7.   Provides analysis and interpretation of information and data in oral and written reports.
8.   Conducts Individualized Educational Planning Team (IEPT) and Section 504 Plan meetings; assists in ongoing review of academic and behavioral strategies for students.
9.   Explains due process procedures and safeguards to parents and school staff.
10. Recommends and participates in the development of alternative academic and behavior strategies to general education staff, special education staff and parents/guardians.
11. Assists with district and state assessments for students with disabilities.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the administrators in Student Services or principal(s).
Minimum Qualifications
1.   Specialist degree in School Psychology.
2.   School Psychologist License.
3.   Possess technology skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1.   Successful experience working with a diverse population in an urban setting.
2.   Experience in leading problem-solving teams through data based decision making, MTSS, RtI, PBIS, and research-based methods.
3.   Experience in developing academic and behavioral interventions.
4.   Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
5.   Background in learning and behavior management.
6.   Experience with training and monitoring the implementation of a variety of research-based programs.
7.   Experience in administering and interpreting a variety of assessments.
8.   Ability to develop and to maintain acceptable relationships with school staff.
9.   Ability to clearly express ideas and concepts verbally and in writing.
10. Experience in counseling strategies and working with community agencies.
11. Knowledge of Special Education law.
12. Knowledge and experience in identifying students with disabilities.
