ROLE SYNOPSIS
The Analytics Development Program is a three-year rotational program within BP’s Supply and Trading organization. In each rotation you will be located on our Chicago trade floor, working directly with industry-leading analysts and traders. Our Analysts will build a solid understanding of global energy markets — including crude, gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, and environmental products. Each rotation will give you the experience needed to make tangible contributions to BP’s performance while gaining valuable knowledge. The work is fast-paced and technically demanding. Analysts use math, logic, and interpersonal skills to translate everything - from geopolitical events to local supply/demand distortions – into a market view that can be monetized through trading positions. Successful candidates will have the opportunity for a fulfilling career as part of a highly commercial organization.

DEVELOPMENT
Along with job rotations, on-the-job experience, and personal mentoring; our analysts have access to training courses, expert advice, and regular feedback. This carefully thought-out approach will build your base of knowledge and allow you to understand energy trading, the role of analytics, and the various instruments/methods we use.
On completion of the program, our analysts have gained the proven ability to deliver insights to our trading benches and make consistent contributions to successful trading strategies. From there, you’ll have an opportunity to apply for a permanent role within the analytical team or in another area of BP. BP’s analytics organization is well-developed and offers opportunities for progression both on a technical and professional level. These roles could focus on a particular commodity before progressing to multiple products within a region or across regions.
Several analytical roles are regularly available in all of our major global trading centers. Analysts frequently move among regions to broaden their experience of different commodities or regional markets depending on our business needs.
