Art Therapist
Position Purpose:
Provide clinical therapeutic recreation or art therapy interventions for all designated clients. Use experiential processes to improve the physical and emotional well-being of adult and/or adolescent clients. Provide continuity of program services in an ethical, legal and moral manner within a safe environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Participate as a team member in the delivery of services to patients and their families. Set and achieve therapeutic goals and objectives with clients with substance abuse and dual diagnosis.
- Master's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, or other related therapies
- At least 1 year of experience in experiential therapies and/or behavioral health setting required
- Must be a keen observer, attentive listener, self-efficient, and flexible.
Work Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 11a-730p
Essential Responsibilities
- Work hours prescribed by the Program Coordinator and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
- Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates group recreational/art therapy programming in designated treatment program/s.
- Assess individuals on cognitive, kinesthetic, and emotional levels.
- Use skills and evaluation techniques to choose materials and interventions that are appropriate for various clients and their needs.
- Conducts clinical assessments and 1:1 client sessions per referral from primary counselor/medical team
- Maintain client records and charts.
- Participates with interdisciplinary clinical staffing and contributes to the comprehensive assessment, treatment plan, and discharge plan
- Serve as a member of the Therapeutic Recreation/Art Therapy Team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
