Graphic Design Intern - Summer 2020

Selection Process: Interview with Communications team. Send resume and a minimum of three reasons this internship sounds interesting to you.

Time Period: Summer Internship: July - End of August. Apply by July 10.

Hours: Can be flexible schedule Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to accommodate the student’s class schedule. 

Location: Ankeny Community Schools District Office, 306 SW School Street, Ankeny, IA 50023

Compensation: Unpaid, but will structure internship to meet course credit requirements.

Responsibilities: Under supervision of the Communications Director, and dependent upon skill in various areas, the intern will:
  • Migrate web content from old website to new website. 
  • Create calendar links. 
  • Develop communication tools needed for sustained positive public relations. This includes graphics, web page content, social media, special events, etc.
  •  Assist in developing content for district website and district social media.
  • Develop and update informational materials including reports, brochures, social media, web pages, photos, audio-visual presentations, and other items.
  • Add content, photos and graphics to website.
  • Create training tutorials and videos.
  • Research new tools.

Requirements: Strong design skills. Preferably a student with a major or minor in graphic design or marketing. Strong grammar and proofreading skills. Strong research skills.

Preferred Skills: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience with website design, graphic design, marketing, or communications. Photography or videography experience. Comfortable with Google Drive. This internship is primarily focused on the new school district website for the 2020-2021 school year, however communications and public relations tasks will be assigned as needed.
