Girl's Dorm Resident Supervisor

This individual will be responsible for overseeing boarding students outside of school hours. Ability to relate well to young people, balance discipline and love and a desire to discipleship are essential.

Personal Qualifications:
1. Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.
2. Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living.
3. Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and philosophy of education.
4. Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others.
5. Faithfully attend an evangelical church that is in agreement with the school’s Statement
        of Faith.

ADDITIONAL PERSONAL QUALITIES
 
The resident supervisor shall:
1. Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children's education and be prepared to assist them in that task.
2. Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance and punctuality.
3. Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity and optimism.
4. Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste and in agreement with school policy.
5. Use acceptable English in written and oral communication.  
6. Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
7. Notify the administration of any policy he/she is unable to support.
8. Appropriately handle all confidential information.
9. Place his/her ministry at SBA ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities.
10. Make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
The resident supervisor shall:
1. Take an active leadership role in working with the students/be a role model in all areas of life.
2. Reside in the dorm and be active in promoting and taking part of dorm activities.
3. Oversee group devotions and help nurture a love for the Lord and His Word.
4. Confront situations immediately when students behave inappropriately or are disrespectful.
5. Show constant support of school, administration and teaching staff.
6. Assist in getting students up in the mornings and settled to bed at night.
7. Report all students who are ill to the dean.
8. Supervise evening study hall time.
9. Lock doors after lights out.
10. Work approximately every other weekend to supervise students who stay on campus for the weekend (some exceptions for SBA event weekends where all staff are on duty).
11. Drive students into town for medical appointments.
12. Administer medications as directed by a physician/parent and maintain detailed medication log.
13. Monitor students during sporting events and special programs.
14. Model and teach stewardship and cleanliness in the dorm area and throughout the whole school.
15. Return to campus by 6:00 pm the day before school resumes, unless plans have been cleared by the dean.
16. Attend staff meetings on Monday mornings at 9:00 am and daily meetings with the dean.
17. Take care of personal business during off times unless otherwise approved by the dean.
18. Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general public.
19. Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration.
20. Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, coworkers and administration.
21. Seek the counsel of the administrator, colleagues and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.
22. Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, committee and faculty/staff meetings.
23. Attend Wednesday evening chapel and other required events during the year as listed in the Faculty/Staff Handbook.
24. Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
25. Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
26. Perform other duties as assigned.
