Clinical Social Worker (MSW) - Immanuel Pathways Central Iowa

The overall purpose of this job is to plan, organize and implement clinical social work and mental health services to Immanuel Pathways participants and families. Responsibilities include but are not limited: Complete initial assessments for psychotherapy needs, provide psychotherapy services to participants, and provide education to participants, families, caregivers as well as staff. Interventions include carrying a caseload of participants who engage in psychotherapy, lead psychotherapy and/or coping skills groups for participants, provide supervision and consultation services to PCMSWs, PLMHPs, BSWs, and practicum students, provide psychoeducation to participants and families regarding mental health issues, provide psychoeducation and support to staff members regarding mental health issues, self-care and overall coping skills, and collaborate with clinical staff and contracted psychiatry providers regarding medication management. The clinical social worker acts as an advocate for participants regarding mental health concerns and collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), family members and contracted providers as indicated.  Supports and lives out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.



Qualifications


Education –
  • Master of Social Work Degree from an accredited school is required.
  • Licensed as LCSW or LICSW or eligible for PLMHP and PCMSW licensure upon hire (Nebraska).
  • Licensed as LISW (Iowa).
Experience –
  • Two (2) years of experience working on a multidisciplinary team in a hospital, clinic, nursing home or community based setting is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience working with the frail or elderly population required, or completion of job specific training related to working with the elderly population must be completed within the first six months of hire.
  • One (1) year of leadership or management experience, preferable in geriatric care setting preferred.
Other Requirements –
  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Skills (i.e. Health Care Level Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); Automated External Defibrillator (AED); First Aid (FA).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance or have means of transportation.
 KSA – Knowledge Skills and Abilities -
  • Knowledge of clinical social work, biopsychosocial assessment, psychotherapy, and evidence based treatments for Major Mental Health Disorders as well as other Adjustment Disorders or life events.
  • Knowledge of personal theoretical orientation and approach to treatment. Able to adapt to theoretical orientation based on client need.
  • Skilled in providing effective individual and group psychotherapy to participants who have a variety of mental health concerns ranging from grief and loss to Major Mental Health Disorders.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication, including speaking to groups of people.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing psychoeducation presentations to various groups (e.g. participants, family, staff, contracted providers).
  • Ability to work with frail/chronically ill elderly people.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to chart via Electronic health Records.
  • Proven experience and basic computer proficiency (internet, email, Microsoft Office).
