Litigation Fellow

EVERYTOWN LAW CALL FOR LITIGATION FELLOW

Everytown for Gun Safety’s Litigation Team — Everytown Law — seeks a talented and creative attorney for a sponsored full-time Litigation Fellowship in conjunction with Equal Justice Works, Skadden, or Justice Catalyst. The position is for 1-2 years beginning in September 2021 and is based in New York City (primarily remote during COVID-19). This is a unique opportunity for the candidate to work with Everytown Law to design and spearhead a Fellowship and apply jointly to the sponsoring organization.
Everytown Law focuses on gun violence prevention impact litigation. It is the largest team of litigators in the country dedicated to advocating in the courts for gun violence prevention — one of the most pressing issues of our time.

Everytown Law engages in two primary areas of law:
(1) affirmative litigation to take on dangerous gun laws, enforce gun violence prevention laws and challenge the gun industry’s dangerous business practices and
(2) defending common-sense, life-saving gun laws against Second Amendment and preemption challenges.
Our team also fosters independent and rigorous Second Amendment scholarship and historical research. You can learn about some of our cases and scholarship at https://everytownlaw.org/

SCOPE OF WORK

Everytown Law is open to discussing any strong proposal, but is particularly interested in fellowship proposals that involve racial justice, social justice, and otherwise advocating on behalf of marginalized communities, those most affected by gun violence, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals seeking to advance gun safety in their communities.
Depending on the project that the Fellow and Everytown Law co-design, you may be involved in federal and state court litigation practice (legal research and analysis, strategy development, complaint drafting and trial court, appellate, and amicus brief writing), as well as direct client representation.
