Internship - Sales Professional - Summer 2021 (Cedar Rapids, IA)

About This Position      
                                                                                              
Do you enjoy building and cultivating business relationships? Do you wish to learn how a Sales Professional utilizes a Consultative Selling approach? The GreatAmerica Sales Professional Internship is designed to build bench strength within the  GreatAmerica Sales team by engaging the best and brightest college students with an opportunity to work alongside our professional sales team members, Marketing and the business unit leadership team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work either full or part time during the summer or school year with the possibility of future opportunities after graduation as well!

During your time in the role, you will complete the GreatAmerica Sales Professional onboarding process and will be given the opportunity to help your specific business unit execute on tactical initiatives. Time in the role will be spent shadowing members of the Sales team, developing new leads for the Sales team and possibly traveling with other members of the Sales team on customer visits. The Intern’s Mentor and other leadership team members will be the direct resources to ensure a valuable experience during their time in the role. Ideally, internship participants will be able to develop into future members of the Sales team after graduation, joining GreatAmerica full-time in the Sales Professional Development Program.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Completion of the Sales Professional Development onboarding curriculum
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the initial stages of the GreatAmerica sales process
  • Consistent and specific documentation of outbound marketing activities in Salesforce
  • Developing persuasive and compelling value statements to attract the attention of prospect accounts
  • Contacting prospective clients through calls and emails
  • Set up meetings between prospective clients and territory sales reps
  • Present our company, products and services to potential clients
  • Responsible for timely follow-up and development of leads
  • Proactively work with Sales team members to understand GreatAmerica’s value-add products and services
  • Is in attendance during business hours with minimal absences per GreatAmerica’s attendance policy. Attendance includes participation in some out of town work that requires nights and weekends.
  • Lives the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as required and assigned.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as required.

Education, experience and skills required:
For this position you must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall. Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills are required.
