School Nursing Director

Position Overview: The School Nursing Director is a one-year leadership role at TEP. This individual will oversee the health and safety of TEP’s students and staff across all three of TEP’s Washington Heights campuses. This role is for a leader who strongly believes in TEP’s revolutionary approach to achieving equity for undeserved communities and will ensure health and safety for our entire school community.

Position Responsibilities:
  • In the context of the COVID-19 health emergency, effectively lead our team of school nurses and other TEP staff to ensure health policies and procedures are maintained and continue to be developed in accordance with guidance from regulatory agencies
  • Assess student health concerns and deliver medical care, intervention, and education
  • Oversee daily screening and COVID-19 control protocols, as required
  • Serve as consultant for other school professionals (i.e. food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and teachers)
  • Collaborate with instructional and non-instructional leaders to influence standards of health and wellness for students and the entire TEP community
  • Serve as main liaison between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment
  • Respond to, consult on, and evaluate emergency care needs
  • Develop plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of nursing experience (preferably school nursing)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of demonstrated experience in management
  • Registered by the State of New York to practice Nursing
  • Valid, unencumbered New York RN License
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess an unwavering commitment to the physical, social, and emotional well-being of youth
  • Ability to manage high stress situations and maintain accuracy in multi-tasking
  • Strong communication with parents and staff regarding individual student needs
  • Willingness to participate in all school activities and support and contribute to the school community

Accountability: The School Nursing Director will report directly to TEP’s Chief People and Services Officer

Compensation: The School Nursing Director earns a competitive salary in the range of $90K to $110K based on the individual’s experience level, for this one-year placement. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 403b retirement plan, STD, LTD and Life Insurance.
