Summer Intern, Corporate Services

Our comprehensive, 12-week paid internship program gives you the opportunity to test your skills working for the nation’s leading producer of cleaner fuels and developer of renewable chemicals. This internship will begin May 17, 2021 and end August 7, 2021. REG values our interns. Our hopes are to host you in person, but with the potential of being remote like we committed to in the summer of 2020. 

POSITION PURPOSE: 
The purpose of this internship is to be responsible to assist with the following REG functions as they relate to the Corporate Services department: facility management and security, vehicle fleet management, department process improvement, internal customer service, event coordination, administrative duties, vendor relations, invoice processing, budget preparation, and information technology project management. Increase business acumen throughout the internship to better understand how REG supply chain functions. Assist with other Corporate Services activities as required.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  
Key Accountabilities:
Facilities
  • Assist in the services of two corporate office buildings located at 416 S. Bell Ave (+-60,000sq.ft.), 215 Alexander Ave (+-12,000sq. ft.), 300 S. Bell (+-15,000sq.ft) and one residential property in Ames. Tasks will vary from administration to physical labor.
  • Maintain, track, and review other REG office lease documents in preparation for upcoming renewals.
Process Development
  • Analyze and understand processes used by corporate services and recommend, plan, and execute ways to improve one or multiple.
  • Processes in place concern the following areas: vehicle fleet management, shipping and receiving, office renovation, supply and equipment procurement and storage, contract organization, office sustainability, and facility management
Internal Customer Service
  • Serve, interact with, and assist REG employees to solve problems in all areas concerning corporate services
Event Coordination
  • Coordinate the set-up and tear down of office events held in the auditorium to include but not limited to Training Events, Intern Workshops, Manager Meetings, SLT Meetings, and any other outside events hosted by REG
Administration
  • Organize, review, and make recommendations for the five corporate services budgets
  • Update and maintain the corporate services intranet website
Vendor Relations
  • Communicate with current vendors as well as new vendors in order to maintain and improve relationships and in order to leverage better prices and services
Information Technology
  • Maintain functionality and develop understanding of Video Teleconferences (VTC), printers and copiers, and security cameras and access badge readers.
  • Learn about the JDE and Perceptive Content accounting software in order to process invoices
 
Perform other duties as assigned

Provide personal contact information on an as needed basis for official business purposes
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: College coursework or experience in the following areas: Facilities Management, Event Management, Business Administration or Management, Marketing or related degree 
Experience Required: 0-2 years
Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
