LOCATION: Kansas City, MO
PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $18.00 / hour

Intern Description:
This role will be responsible for developing and presenting materials for safety presentation meetings, safety-related training to all personnel, and safety orientation training for new employees. The major challenge of this position is to ensure safety recommendations, procedures and processes are implemented in a proper and timely manner. Interns must assure personnel make proper use of tools and equipment, follow safe work procedures, and wear proper personal protective equipment.

Job tasks include but not limited to:
• Works closely with management to schedule and conduct monthly meetings for personnel and schedule bi-monthly safety meetings
• Attends stand-up meetings to discuss daily safety issues
• Responsible for training first level supervision and IBEW employees on procedures/rules.
• Candidates must also monitor all phases of compliance with safety rules and procedures books and asbestos removal procedures.
• Will participate in safety department staff meetings, conference calls and Joint Safety Leadership Committee meetings.
• Participate in accident investigations and conduct emergency drills. 
• Will assist and perform safety audits with safety teams by conducting reviews of daily job discussions, safety job requests and job tickets.
• Perform Budget and planning tasks
• Updating Spreadsheets

Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must be a Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a university or technical program in a Safety-related degree program a related field: Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Biology or Chemistry.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
• Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and presentation skills.  
• Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel.  
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases preferred. Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in use of new computer software and programs.
• Must be able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in high stress environment.

Working Conditions:
Office conditions with continuous attention to performing work of high quality and accuracy in a safe manner.With use of a company vehicle, periodic service center or generating station visits for presentations as well as occasional field inspections/observations will involve work outdoors within driving distance of work location.
