Information Technology Applications Developer - GIS

Under direct supervision of Information Technology Applications Lead to create or modify GIS applications and GIS datasets; participates in design and analysis of GIS applications and GIS database schemas; participates with other GIS analysts in maintaining and enhancing existing GIS applications; performs related work as assigned. Assist in development of new and existing GIS customized mapping applications utilizing technologies such as Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Web App Builder, ArcGIS Online, Geocortex, ArcGIS Pro, HTML, and other web technologies. Assist with formal analysis of user requirements with regard to new and existing systems, and to provide appropriate design documentation. Assist with the development and management of geospatial data within an enterprise environment using ArcGIS Pro, Model Builder, Python, Arcade, or ArcGIS API for Python. Work closely with other developers and project managers with Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) to design and develop both internal and public-facing web applications. Assist with application development estimating, planning, progress tracking and reporting. Develop, sustain and expand working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within NDOT to design products focused on enterprise GIS capabilities. Provide on-going GIS support for GIS users within NDOT. Assist with developing and enforcing GIS data schema and QA/QC processes and standards. Stay up to date with new and emerging technologies in the GIS.

REQUIREMENTS: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.

PREFERRED: Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, GIS or related field. Two years of professional web development experience. Two plus years’ working with geographic information management and spatial data standards. Two plus years’ experience working with SQL server. Two plus years’ experience with technologies such as Geocortex, ArcGIS Web App Builder and/or ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS API for Python, Jupiter Notebooks or ArcGIS Enterprise Notebooks, Arcade, and mobile application development. Experience with Collector for ArcGIS, Survey 123 for ArcGIS and/or other mobile GIS data collection environments. Experience with SQL server database technologies. Experience with Agile development methodologies.
