Global Child Sponsorship Internship

Job Summary

Our global ministries are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic intern to work with our global administrative team in Lakeland, Florida. It is required that a global intern be extremely flexible, adaptable, and agreeable as international non-profit work can be busy and unpredictable! Depending on the intern’s skills and abilities daily responsibilities may vary. The following areas highlight the breadth of opportunities to serve: Biblical and spiritual education, research and training manual development, social work advancement and documentation, as well as administrative, communicative and business opportunities. It is the intern’s responsibility to actively insert themselves as much as possible to be of help in the office. The length of internship can depend upon educational needs and can occur any time throughout the calendar year.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Effectively communicate with the Child Sponsorship team you are working alongside, as well as the global mission team and other One More Child staff.
  • Take initiative in the office. Sharing suggestions about the skills you have to offer will make your time more meaningful.
  • Collaborate with the Child Sponsorship team at the Joe K. Blanton campus to plan a standard office schedule each week. This will include a variety of tasks and responsibilities, some of which may include: 
  1. Assist with documentation and macro-level social work skills (such as maintenance of client records, donor information, and research projects.)
  2. Create presentations and special trainings for the young adults and/or parents in the sponsorship program to be used by our national staff overseas. They can focus on important topics such as: how to create a resume, sexuality, public speaking, health, etc.
  3. Research specific agreed upon projects that will further and expand the work of the child sponsorship program overseas and engage more donors nationally
  4. Create, edit and share engaging social media posts utilizing online tools and resources
  5. Facilitate the documentation, preparation, and sending of letters to/from children and sponsors to their appropriate recipient.
  6. Assist in ongoing website development and strategic maintenance.

  • Shadow a full-time social worker during advocacy meetings at the Harold Simmons Clark Compassion Center (optional).
  • Evangelical opportunities may organically occur. Be prepared to share.
  • Communicate regularly with Director of Child Sponsorship any questions, concerns, updates in the office.
