Tissue Donation Coordinator - Part-time

Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluate information for preliminary donor eligibility, including: relevant medical records, clinical course, hemodilution assessment, medical history and behavioral risk assessment information.
- Works closing with hospital staff, other agencies and tissue banks to obtain or review medical information for the assessment of potential donors.
- Provide potential donor families with information regarding the donation opportunity and provide support during the process.
- Coordinate cases with various organizations including hospitals, funeral homes and medical examiner offices.
- Arrange for the surgical recovery of tissues.
- Additional responsibilities include data entry and general follow-up communication as well as other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The preferred candidate for this position should possess an Associate's degree with coursework in science and/or medical field, with Bachelor's preferred.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and customer service, have the ability to multi task and make sound clinical assessments in a fast paced environment, make independent decisions, have a good understanding of medical terminology and anatomy, above average word-processing skills and have attention to detail. Experience working with grief, loss or end of life care is preferred.
This is a part time, 6 hour self-scheduled position working at least 1-2 days/nights per week with training on the day shift for up to six months.
