Veterinary Technician

Mission Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Technician! Mission offers appointments, urgent care, general practice surgery, high volume spay/neuter surgery, and specialty surgery services. Mission is the Midwest’s only full-service nonprofit veterinary hospital serving primarily low-income pet owners. We work hard every day to help sick pets and educate owners so that pets and families can stay together.

JOB DETAILS:

-- Full-time, non-exempt (hourly), benefits-eligible

-- Hourly rate: $16-22/hour, DOE

-- Schedule may be either:

---- 3, 13-hour shifts/week, including 2 weekends every 6 weeks

---- 4, 10-hour shifts/week, including 2 weekends every 6 weeks

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person will work closely with all of our services (appointments, urgent care, and surgery) and provide valuable support to veterinarians. Duties may include:

-- General patient monitoring and care

-- Performing diagnostic tests and x-rays

-- Preparing animals and instruments for surgery

-- Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments

-- Observing and reporting on the behavior and condition of animals

-- Restraining animals for examination or treatment

-- Administering anesthesia and assisting during medical procedures

-- Collecting and recording animal case histories

-- Assisting with discharges and client communication

QUALIFICATIONS:

-- Certified Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience

-- Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team

-- Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

-- Formalized and personalized on-boarding program, focusing in each service area

-- Technician Skill Levels 1, 2, and 3; raises after passing each level

-- Leadership opportunities as they become available in inventory, training, safety, rescue partnership, operations, and more
