Apply strong technical knowledge to support a research campus network infrastructure at an advanced level.

Responsibilities


  • Maintain ARL physical network infrastructure. This includes design of wiring, wire management structure, physical switch layout, network closet support structure (AC and UPS). Provide network systems support for problems as they relate to the performance and availability of key business services, the supporting servers, and network infrastructure.
  • Support ARL network related services, which includes: the wi-fi system; the VoIP system; and, the T1 fiber interconnect system.
  • Maintain ARL classified email system from a network perspective. This includes routers, firewalls, switches, and fiber media converters. This responsibility includes both physical and logical implementation. All configurations should be DISA STIG compliant. Obtain and maintain DoD 8570 certificates applicable to this role (IAT).
  • Provide input to the ARL Network Manager for ARL logical network. Provide backup role to the ARL Network Manager for routers, firewalls, and site level encryption devices.
  • Provide support and development for ARL developed network management software.
  • Other related functions as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science or related field. Five or more years experience with data networking technologies. Five or more years of demonstrated experience designing, building, and operating campus/enterprise networks (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless). Four or more years of professional experience with Cisco routers and firewalls. Four or more years of professional experience resolving security issues on servers and networks. Must be proficient in network design and common network protocols (spanning tree, link aggregation, SIP, and others). Strong troubleshooting skills. Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills, with ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, adapt to change, manage competing demands, change approach or method to best fit situation, and to deal with delays or unexpected events. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.


Preferred Qualifications

More than required experience above. CCNA or higher certification. Experience with multiple vendor network equipment including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Extreme, Mellanox, and Dell. Four or more years professional experience working in Linux/UNIX environments. Experience implementing network infrastructure in accordance with government requirements such as NIST and STIGs. Experience creating scripts and automated tools utiliizing languages such as Python, Perl, shell, C, SQL/MySQL, and PHP. Experience maintaining documentation drawings including block diagrams and AutoCAD plans. Experience with Asterisk PBX. Knowledge of system administration including virtual environments. Must hold a DoD 8570.01 approved certification to satisfy an IAT Level II position or must have the ability to obtain and provide proof of such certification within 120 days from hire date.

Salary Range

$58,400-$85,500+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
