Library Associate 3

The Library Associate 3 reports to the Head of Circulation and is responsible for answering questions from patrons and assists with resolving problems with their library accounts. Incumbent also cooperates with the Coordinator responsible for supervising students by assisting with their training and assignment of duties during their shifts.

Job Duties:
- Works at front desk and assists with the circulation of library materials, collecting fines, helping patrons with questions/problems, processing cards for all authorized categories of users, and completion of data entry projects. Ensures that loan requests from off-campus borrowers are filled in a timely manner. Maintains lists of additional users/special borrowers, updating as necessary. Suspends library privileges of patrons with resigned or canceled status. Assigns carrels to faculty and graduate students on a semester basis. 40%
- Supervises the placement and removal of materials onto/off Reserve; communicates with faculty to resolve problems; provides outreach to faculty regarding new services; implements new electronic reserves functions; trains and supervises student workers while they are assigned to Reserve activity; supervises circulation of materials from Reserve Desk. 25%
- Maintains inventory of Gear-to-Geaux circulating electronics. Coordinates the ordering of parts as necessary, as well as other needed supplies for the department. 30%
- Other duties as assigned 5%
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Level: Bachelor's
Years of Experience: 1-3 years of library experience
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Years of Experience: 1 year supervisory experience
Specific Experience: Knowledge of editing library catalog records preferred.
