Responsibilities
The Investment Operations Internship within Principal's Retirement and Income Solutions business unit is the perfect opportunity to gain real world experience in the retirement industry. This internship will allow you to play a key role in supporting the investment operations process by focusing on process improvement, daily operational tasks, back end mainframe tables, strong process controls, and data integrity.
In this role you will be a part of an operations team that is responsible for providing timely and accurate daily controls, support trade activities and transaction management. Within this team there are a wide variety of learning opportunities that make up the back-office support system for our investment teams including Building and Maintaining Investments, Cashflow Management, Account Reconciliation research and resolution, and Fund Pricing controls.
The ideal candidate will use their problem-solving, analytical abilities, and technical aptitude to process tasks with high efficiency and accuracy while reviewing for business risk and implementing risk reducing solutions. Assertiveness and attention to detail are also key to this area of our company.

Qualifications:

  • Working towards or have a bachelor's degree in a field related to Business Analytics, MIS, Finance, or related majors.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Possess strong computer skills including experience with MS Word and Excel.
  • Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and look for ways to improve or automate processes.
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Ideal applicants will have a technical aptitude with exposure to SQL and SAS.
  • 3.0 GPA or above
