Plan Review and Development Unit Supervisor (WMS Band 1)

The Spill Prevention, Preparedness, and Response program (SPPR) program within the Department of Ecology is looking for a collaborative and human-centered Plan Review and Development Unit Supervisor. This position will be located in our Headquarters Building in Lacey, WA.

This is an opportunity for an innovative leader to guide a high-performing team developing oil spill readiness plans that minimize damages when oil spills into Washington waters. This position is identified as a Critical Agency Employee and is expected to work during facility closures and natural disasters, including on short notice. They will also need at times to be available after-hours and on weekends to support staff that are assigned on after-hours duty rotation.

A Bachelor's degree involving major study in an environmental, physical, or natural science, planning, business administration, education, or closely allied field, or law degree.

AND 

Four (4) years of professional experience in marine transportation, planning, environmental policy, supervising or conducting oil spill response.

A Master's degree involving major study in an environmental, physical, or natural science, planning, business administration, education, or closely allied field, or a law degree.

Two (2) years of professional experience in marine transportation, planning, management or emergency response.

Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in planning practices, project management, understanding of environmental compliance programs; federal oil spill planning regulations; design, team/small organization leadership.
