Ranch Management Trainee

Thomas Angus Ranch Management Trainee
Essential Job Functions:
This role will spend approximately 2 years* in developmental training to prepare candidate for becoming a successful member of our operations management team. A Management Trainee is a hands-on role that reports directly to Thomas Angus Ranch owners. This position is targeted toward curious, hardworking candidates with an eagerness to progress in a ranch management career. Over time, the Management Trainee will gain training in ranch operations, project management, sale operations, and people management.
What to expect:
Assist a team of 1-2 individuals in the below ranch operations:
-Checking and responding to health status on cows/calves
-Pasture rotation of cows/calves
-Facilitate breeding, synchronization, and pregnancy checking
-Calving, vaccinating, and doctoring animals
-Daily livestock feeding
-General repair, maintenance, and upkeep of property and other ranch assets
Salary will be determined on experience, stability, and references.
Housing/utilities included benefits for hired candidate.

Qualifications
Requirements:
*Willingness to learn management practices with interest in stepping into management position within 2 years
-Bachelor’s or Associates degree in animal science, ranch management, or industry-related studies
-Understanding of proper livestock handling practices
-Basic understanding of animal management protocols such as: calving, weaning, vaccinations, etc.
-Basic understanding of artificial insemination and synchronization protocols
-Flexible, with a willingness to work on a wide range of tasks and projects with consistent attention to detail
-Available to work 6 days per week, with additional hours when needed.
-Pleasant, diplomatic manner, and disposition in interacting with owners, co-workers, contractors, customers, and general public in community
-Exceptional listening and communication skills
-Eager to work for a progressive and forward-thinking producer
-Organized, detail-oriented, and shows exceptional care for animals, equipment and property
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in pasture-rotation and animal grazing management
-Animal reproduction experience in artificial insemination and synchronization protocols
-Experience leading teams and managing projects
-Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
