Dow Jones News Fund Multiplatform Editing Summer Internship
If you love language, are passionate about accuracy, fact-checking, grammar and spelling, you have a future in editing. Editors assess copy for tone and style, write headlines, design print layouts, check sources and most importantly, they are the last line of defense before a news outlet publishes content.
The Dow Jones News Fund seeks college juniors, seniors and graduate students for editing internships with some of the nation’s most respected news outlets. The News Fund provides week-long, pre-internship training, paid summer internships and awards $1,500 scholarships.
Interns are paid a minimum of $450/week for 10-12 weeks.
During the week of training, interns hone their visual design, headline writing and line editing skills; help publish high-quality print and digital products on deadline; and strengthen their news judgment skills. Click here to see a list of previous internship placements.
ABOUT YOU
You love details. You love writing, concisely and accurately. You are not afraid to ask questions and suggest improvements to add clarity and better engage your audience. Previous editing experience at an internship or for student media is a plus.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Students apply online here. Each applicant must submit an unofficial transcript and personal essay. Within a day or two, the News Fund will send applicants a link to a timed, online test that must be taken within 3 days. The test itself takes about an hour.
