Oral Health Intern (Fall)

We are currently looking for an Oral Health Intern to work to improve oral health coverage and access. Working with national and state partners, we focus on developing and advocating for policy solutions that expand public oral health coverage and improve access to care. The Oral Health Intern plays a key role in supporting this work.
Role/Responsibilities may include:
  • Tracking Medicaid adult dental policy changes made by state legislatures and governors.
  • Writing a policy brief on these dental policy changes, comparing dental coverage levels with 2019 levels.
  • Conducting research on the public health impact of gaining/losing dental coverage.
  • Collecting data related to oral health outcomes and insurance coverage.
  • Preparing draft policy one pagers, fact sheets, issue briefs, and presentations.
  • Tracking and supporting oral health policy work with state-based advocates, national coalition members, and Members of Congress.
Requirements
  • Passion for and deep commitment to health, health care and social justice.
  • We greatly value students with journalism, communications, marketing, business, political science, English, and health care-related majors.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Skilled at organizing and exceptional attention to details.
  • Ability to prioritize work under tight deadlines while remaining flexible.
  • Professionalism and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work individually, as well as part of a team.
  • Collaborative, team-first attitude.
