Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Statistical Methods for Microbiome Research

The Ma Lab in the Division of Public Health Sciences at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to develop novel statistical/computational methods for problems in microbiome research. Specific topics include, but are not limited to, statistical learning, compositional data analysis, graphical models, and high-dimensional inference. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is interested in a collaborative environment and interacting with investigators with diverse experiences. The position is available for two years, starting from September 1st, 2020 (or by negotiation). 


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Jing Ma in developing novel statistical/computational methods in the context of microbiome and integrative genomics. He/she will have opportunities to join collaborative research projects within Fred Hutch and University of Washington as well as external collaborations. 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have: 
  • Completed a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a closely related area 
  • Demonstrated a capacity to produce high quality research 
  • Strong programming skills in a statistical language (e.g. R, MATLAB, Python)
In addition, the ideal candidate will also have: 
  • Experience in statistical learning and high-dimensional data analysis
