Portfolio Reporting Analyst


SENIOR FINANCIAL REPORTING ANALYST - BOSTON
 
The ideal candidate for the role should possess the following characteristics and qualifications:
Ø Business-related undergraduate or graduate degree with a minimum 7 years of related and transferable experience, preferably in the financial services industry
Ø Strong data structuring/modeling and business intelligence skills; must be highly fluent in MS Excel. VBA, PowerPivot, or other coding experience preferred
Ø Communicate effectively and professionally – both written and verbally – across all levels of the organization (i.e., both thematic/high-level and detailed/specific)
Ø Ability to take high-level direction, work independently, and assume full accountability for work product and/or projects, including:
o  defining problem statements
o  identifying next steps and making recommendations
o  providing proactive follow-up and follow-through
Ø Effectively multi-task and prioritize various assignments in a deadline-driven environment, while also maintaining a high level of attention to detail
Ø Strong respect for core client values such as intellectual curiosity, critical thinking/problem solving, accountability, and teamwork
Ø Professional tenacity; self-motivated and enthusiastic about continuous learning and development; takes pride in work product
Ø Team oriented; understands that personal success only comes when the team succeeds
 
This position is a member of the team responsible for providing reporting, data analytics, and decision support tools to My Clients hedgefund’s external investors, regulators, and internal management team. 
 
Essential functions of this position will include, but are not limited to:
Ø Own and execute specific reporting deliverables that include reporting on key performance metrics (IRR, ROIC, etc.), investment activity reporting, and tracking investments relative to internal buy and sell targets. Maintain current policies and procedures related to these deliverables
Ø Execute ad-hoc reporting and data analysis, often in parallel with other deliverables, to support senior management in both Operations and the Investment Team:
o  quickly and accurately transform unstructured data into a concise message
o  identify and summarize key themes, observations, and takeaways from the resulting analysis
o  proactively anticipate follow-up questions and/or next steps
Ø Provide data, analysis, and fact verifications in support of internal Partner meetings, as well as investor communications, meetings, and presentations
Ø Develop a deep knowledge of the various systems, processes/workflows, and deliverables that impact the Portfolio Reporting team and its processes/deliverables
Ø Enhance current processes to increase efficiency and improve overall reporting quality (i.e., reduce risk of bad or inconsistent data); develop workflows to support and automate new reporting processes and data access
Ø Represent Portfolio Reporting on cross-operations project teams to support the development, implementation, and testing of new reporting tools and broader middle office technology enhancements
