Custom Applicator
Position Summary:
Operate all equipment and vehicles safely and professionally. Mix, load and apply crop protection and crop nutrient products. Inspect vehicles for needed routine maintenance and equipment changes. Preparation and maintenance of appropriate records and operation of truck in accordance with safety procedures and DOT requirements is a must. Daily interaction with customers for exceptional customer service. Assist with the Grain Division in the Fall.
Responsibilities:
- Operate all equipment and vehicles (sprayers, spreaders, trucks, etc.) in a safe and professional manner.
- Mix, load and apply pesticides and fertilizers at applicable rates to the appropriate fields.
- Handle and deliver bulk and packaged chemical.
- Clean and maintain equipment.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections.
- Maintain application/spray records.
- Organize and coordinate application schedules with customers.
- Work in a professional manner while providing exceptional customer service.
- Communicate clearly and effectively to convey information to new and existing customers.
- Ensure that company and government safety, policy and regulatory standards are met.
- Notify the manager of any issues that may impact safety, customer satisfaction, productivity and/or other established goals and standards.
- Other tasks as assigned at supervisor/manager discretion.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent. Tech/trade-school training is a plus.
- Must have a valid state driver's license with the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and hazmat endorsement.
- Ability to obtain a commercial applicator license.
- Previous agriculture/farm experience including having knowledge of seed, chemical and fertilizer to make informed decisions preferred.
- Ability to work extended hours during the busy season.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs on occasion.
- Ability to sit, bend and climb frequently.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
