CAD Support Administrator

Assist in the application of all CAD systems to support the needs of the product engineering groups in a global environment. This position will report to the Manager Global Systems and Infrastructure Security and will work in cooperation with the product engineering groups with all CAD application users, to provide required support for all CAD applications. This position will be responsible for development of specifications for software, managing software upgrade projects, maintenance/development of the software, training of computer users, coordinating the annual budgeting process between the product engineering groups & IT department, contract negotiations and general user support/problem solving. Maintain SAP environment for PLM and document storage and retrieval.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Support a variety of CAD applications (24) to support globally the needs of the product engineering groups. Including but are not necessarily limited to: Creo, NX, Catia, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, and Solidworks.
  • Maintain customer contacts and business contacts to ensure timely software upgrades.
  • Maintain global versus local licensing for all CAD software packages.
  • Create installation documentation for CAD software for others to install when global rollouts not possible.
  • Support multiple software upgrade projects at one time, prioritizing programming, testing, and support to ensure proper completion.
  • Advise product engineering groups on best practices for CAD model architecture and storage.
  • Provide secondary level support to the Service Desk. The individual should be able to analyze and resolve low to relatively highly complex issues by investigating programs and making the necessary changes and/or conveying any necessary changes to the other groups that may be involved.
  • Identify CAD user training needs and assist with accomplishing or procuring.
  • Coordinate the budgeting process between the divisions/groups; and the IT department.
  • Support various other CAM/CAE (FEA and CFD), 1D and other applications (FCA Teamcenter, Nissan TCP2, etc.) in a secondary role.
  • Support CAM software such as SMP/IS and Espirit.
  • Support document archiving and retrieval in an SAP environment.

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to effectively communicate with engineering personnel about CAD, CAM, and CAE systems and traverse the IT landscape
  • Must have project management skills; especially in the area of software upgrades.
  • Must have working experience with Windows server and client environment.
  • Requires the ability to think logically and independently, displaying strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and be able to prioritize requests
  • PowerShell Scripting knowledge a bonus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Drive to make things better.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering and 3 years of experience using a high-end CAx system such as AutoCAD, Catia, Pro/Engineer, NX, or Solid Edge. 5+ years’ experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

None To Very Limited - may require an occasional international trip; to another Modine geographic region headquarters.
