IT Quality Engineering

Position Overview

Through hands-on experience as well as observational and mentorship activities, the IT Intern will have the opportunity to learn about several aspects of Information Technology, Biotechnology and working in a real business environment.

Primary responsibilities will be to provide support services to Exact Sciences employees; primarily in the Madison or Redwood City locations, but remote support for geographically diverse employees.
As a member of the Quality Engineering (QE) team in IT Software Engineering Department, QE Intern will be developing skills in testing software quality to provide exceptional customer experience. QE Intern will learn creation and execution of manual test cases, develop and execute automated test suites, and document results following SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure).
Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform quality assurance activities for software releases – review requirements, develop test cases, execute testing and generate status report.
  • Develop Agile methodologies for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) as part of day to day activities.
  • Develop automation test scripts using tools like Selenium, JMeter, SOAPUI to validate the workflow(s).
  • Develop skills to test web applications hosted in cloud infrastructure.
  • Act as a problem solver to drive successful completion of assigned tasks.
  • Establish positive working relationships with cross functional team members, vendors and IT customers.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to travel between facilities in the metropolitan area as needed.
  • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, and vendors in person, via the telephone or by email.
  • Constant walking or motion to coordinate work and interact with co-workers.

Education and Experience
  • Actively pursuing educational advancement through a secondary or post-secondary institution.
  • Appetite to learn; general business acumen.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 
Preferred
·        Demonstrated aptitude for technology and an interest in pursuing a career in information technology.
  • Exposure to programming languages like Java, Python, Perl etc.
·        Knowledge of JSON, XML, SQL is an added advantage.
