Grain Marketing Summer Intern
Agtegra Cooperative is seeking two grain marketing interns to join our team in Aberdeen, SD for the summer of 2021.
Position Summary
This position will learn and assist in many of the grain department’s commercial activities. These include the company’s grain marketing and origination efforts. Grain Marketing interns will assist in grain origination, grain hedging, and preparation of facility volume and revenue forecasts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Employee will gain exposure to company’s risk management practices including operating the company’s hedge desk.
- Employee will gain exposure to grain origination, including working with Agtegra grain originators and farmers on various marketing programs.
- Will oversee yield survey data and the compilation of revenue models used for forecasting and budgeting.
- Will oversee the calibration of wheat protein samplers prior to wheat harvest.
- Tour company’s market region to determine overall crop size and quality.
- Monitors various sources of market information and compiles pertinent data to analyze and distribute to Agtegra employees and patrons.
- Communicates extensively with location personnel through phone and email communications.
- Cross trains and assists with the duties of other Grain Dept. Marketing personnel.
- Seeks efficiencies and recommends changes to streamline processes.
- Pursues training and development opportunities and strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
Education and Experience Required
- Enrollment toward appropriate business, marketing, sales, or finance degrees. Enrollment in an ag program is preferred.
