Digital Marketing Intern

EDF offers internships and fellowships for students and recent graduates in a variety of programs and departments throughout the organization. The ultimate goal of our internship and fellowship program is to provide high-quality experiences (including relevant projects and opportunities for networking) that form the foundation for any individual who is serious about pursuing an environmental career.

Program Overview
The Digital Marketing Team manages EDF's main social media accounts and is responsible for reaching key target audiences through organic and paid campaigns. This is a high-performing, cross-cutting team that works with all programs at EDF to advise on digital communications best practices and amplify program work.
EDF has an ambitious content marketing strategy to raise the visibility of our work, project our unique approach more clearly, and connect with new supporters. The Digital Marketing Team works with the rest of the Digital Team and across the brand and program marketing communications teams to reach and influence people who appreciate our practical, science- and economics-based approach to protecting natural systems.

Overall Function
The Digital Marketing Intern will work on several tasks related to EDF's social presence and assist in management of social channels.

Key Responsibilities
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
  •  Identifying opportunities to optimize and maximize EDF's social presence and search potential.
  • Assisting with community management across social channels by monitoring and flagging member questions and comments.     
  • Identifying opportunities to build cohesion on social with other EDF messaging and campaigns.
  • Helping plan and publish quick response social content around breaking news like coronavirus or extreme weather.
  • Assisting with day-to-day management of EDF's social channels, writing compelling digital copy, launching ads and social posts, and reporting on the results.
  • Researching, identifying and evaluating new digital channels and tools.

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing or similar degree program with at least two years collegiate experience by the start of the internship.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as individually.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Proficiency with Excel or other spreadsheet program.
  • Experience with Google Analytics a plus.

Compensation
This internship would involve either compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits or academic credit. Students are encouraged to seek academic credit or funding through their college/university and EDF will ensure that any and all paperwork needed to secure academic credit is completed.
