Working with a dynamic and ambitious team members across New York and across the globe, the Deputy Director of Development, Strategic Partnerships and Philanthropy is responsible for building relationships with communities TNC serves and plans to serve, including community, faith-based, and philanthropic leaders to develop TNC’s equitable conservation, urban conservation, and environmental justice principles and practices into strategies in order to drive philanthropic support. In close partnership with TNC conservation program leaders, this position helps identify and liaise with community partners and influencers positioned to co-create and implement conservation work rooted in equity and environmental justice. They play a critical role on the New York Development Team to ensure communications and strategies incorporate equity and inclusion of all communities TNC serves and/or should serve. They are responsible for a significant portion of direct fundraising, typically with major and principal gift donors and constituents, while embedding equity in TNC’s culture and approach, promoting organizational values.
The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes: 
  •    Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of fundraising experience, including 3 years working at a senior level on a development team.
  • Experience conceiving and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Experience conceiving, developing, and managing multiple projects and strategic goals.
  • Experience developing practices and procedures of relevant field.
  • Experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a large, complex, not-for-profit environment.
  • Management experience of a large multidisciplinary department, including planning and delivering budgetary responsibilities.
  • Leadership experience, including the ability to inspire, lead, set objectives.
  • Experience communicating with and presenting to diverse audiences, including but not limited to donors; board members; employees; community-based organizations and organizations with a concentration on Black, Indigenous, all People of Color.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
