Research Assistant for Book Publicity: a new feminist and social justice book

Now hiring a Student Research Assistant for a new feminist and social justice book 
Approximately 25 hours of work total and work should be completed by December 1, 2020

The position is open until filled. The Research Assistant (RA) will be promoting Dr. Heather McKee Hurwitz’s new book from Temple University Press: Are We the 99%? The Occupy Movement, Intersectionality, and Feminism
 The RA will be focused on identifying professors who may want to adopt Dr. Hurwitz’s book for their classes in 2021. The RA will send pre-designed publicity materials to the professors, carefully track who has been contacted, and forward responses to Dr. Hurwitz. With guidance from Dr. Hurwitz, the position includes researching a list of potential professors. The position would be very interesting for someone who would like to get to know academics and graduate school programs in feminism, social justice, sociology, politics, and communications. Dr. Hurwitz will provide some training. Please highlight in your coverletter any prior experience with publicity, professional writing and research. 
The Assistant will work closely with Dr. Hurwitz. Must have attention to detail and keep good records using spreadsheets. The ideal candidate(s) will hold a strong interest in learning or have experience in online research and using spreadsheets. He/she/they should have good attention to detail. In addition, the ideal candidate would have an interest in feminism, intersectionality, democracy or social movement issues, and the social sciences. Be a team player and enjoy working as a team, at the same time be able to concentrate on a task and work efficiently and independently. Have comfort with communicating professionally over email. Critical thinking, and strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidates who are willing to learn new skills, have flexibility, and the ability to problem solve will be particularly attractive.
