NPR Music Alt.Latino Intern (REMOTE) – Winter/Spring 2021

NPR’s Winter/Spring 2021 Internship Program will be fully remote. 

Program Duration: January 11 - April 16, 2021

Alt.Latino is a weekly podcast and radio show from NPR Music that spotlights new music from Central and South America and its worldwide diaspora. Now in its 10th season, Alt.Latino is hosted by Felix Contreras, who on any given week might share his favorite new music, interview a newsmaking artist, or dive deep into an important topic. We’re looking for a music-obsessed editorial intern to join the Alt.Latino team. An ideal candidate would be someone organized yet creative, curious yet disciplined, with experience producing audio or web video. We’ll ask you to do a little of everything (research, fact-checking, writing, production, social content).

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pitch episode ideas
  • Fact-check episodes 
  • Research, book guests, and write interview questions
  • Assist in episode audio production
  • Assist in web video production
  • Assist with podcast promotion, including social 
  • Collaborate with NPR Music staff

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work from the United States and authorized to work in the United States throughout the Winter/Spring 2021 internship dates. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship. 

REQUIRED SKILLS 

  • Must have excellent research and written/verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently, quickly, and accurately
  • Collaborative 
  • Able to work on tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated interest in Latinx music and culture

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience preferred in audio production
  • Experience preferred in web video production
