General Video Intern (REMOTE) - Winter/Spring 2021

NPR’s Winter/Spring 2021 Internship Program will be fully remote. 

Program Duration: January 11 - April 16, 2021

The General Video Intern will assist in the production of a range of editorial projects, spanning the NPR newsroom, podcasting and NPR Music -- including Tiny Desk Concerts and Jazz Night in America series. We look for video producers who can balance multiple tasks at once, translate big ideas into smart and compelling visuals and who are excited to help NPR Video reach new audiences. This is a paid, full-time, 40-hour a week internship working remotely. It will require occasional late nights/odd hours.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in video projects across NPR including editing, production and post-production. 
  • Occasionally assist in production for virtual live concert events and social media for the Tiny Desk Home Concerts series.
  • Occasionally assist in planning and editing Jazz Night videos (research, narrative design, technical/creative editing)

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work from the United States and authorized to work in the United States throughout the Winter/Spring 2021 internship dates. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship. 

REQUIRED SKILLS 

  • Easily-located links to work samples or online portfolio in application
  • Expertise Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
  • Experience shooting and editing video 
  • Aptitude in storytelling through editing & scripting
  • Evidence of being highly-organized, detail-oriented, and technologically savvy
  • Ability to follow directions precisely and handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency shooting video with DSLRs and/or C100s (Cameras and gear will be supplied, when necessary)
  • Availability full-time
  • Ability to be generally awesome and able to work well with awesome people

PREFERRED

  • Skills in After Effects
  • Personal computer
