Audience Engagement Intern (REMOTE) – Winter/Spring 2021

NPR’s Winter/Spring 2021 Internship Program will be fully remote. 
Program Duration: January 11 - April 16, 2021
The audience engagement team in digital news is looking for candidates with a proven skill and interest in audience engagement, social media and digital journalism. You can help shape, create and execute audience engagement strategies and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produce original content specifically for social media 
  • Learn about programming NPR.org homepage and alert strategy
  • Help develop original ideas and digital strategies around planned news events, breaking news and special projects
  • Assist the engagement team in producing posts for social media platforms and npr.org
  • Use data and insights to analyze audience engagement and help inform our journalism
  • Assist with direct reader engagement such as producing Reddit AMAs and Facebook Lives, and responding to newsletter reader feedback
  • Track social media trends
WHO CAN APPLY?
  • LOCATION: Must be planning to work from the United States and authorized to work in the United States throughout the Winter/Spring 2021 internship dates. 
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with reporting, writing and copy editing (preferred)
  • Experience with analyzing website and social media metrics and trends (preferred)
