RESEARCH PROFESSIONAL

Professors Emanuele Colonnelli and Kilian Huber seek full-time Research Professionals for a period of two years. Research Professionals work with faculty to assemble data, conduct statistical analysis, develop research projects, and provide other tasks associated with faculty research. Professors Colonnelli and Huber work on policy-relevant research in macroeconomics, banking, political economy, and labor.

The ideal candidate will have strong skills in
(i)           computer programming (especially Stata, Python, and/or Julia),
(ii)          writing and communication, and
(iii)         the ability to work and solve problems independently.
Background in economics or finance is a plus, but not necessary. All candidates with strong technical and writing skills who are looking for exposure to economics and finance research are welcome. A long-term interest in pursuing research is helpful. Experience with quantitative text analysis (especially LDA) and language skills in Danish, German, and Portuguese are useful, but not essential.

Research Professionals are close collaborators in research projects with Professors Colonnelli and Huber. They receive support and advice in planning their future careers. While at Chicago Booth, Research Professionals engage in a range of programs that develop their ability to conduct research, including programming workshops and writing seminars. Previous Booth Research Professionals have gone on to leading Ph.D. programs, including at Chicago Booth, Chicago Economics, Harvard, MIT, and many more.

The preferred start date is August 1, 2021, though other dates may be considered. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis, but all applications submitted by November 6, 2020, will be given full consideration.

We pay an annual salary of $50,000 and provide standard benefits such as health insurance.
