With our Underwriting Insights graduate program, you’ll get immediate hands-on experience of the insurance world, doing real and useful work from the day you join us.

You’ll start your graduate scheme in the Underwriting Analytics team. This team is responsible for the delivery of strategic analytical insights to Underwriting Management and the wider US business. The Underwriting Analytics team sits within the Underwriting Insights function which is also responsible for pricing, actuarial, exposure management and reinsurance.

You’ll support the continued advancement and development of our analytic and insight capabilities, providing decision support for business initiatives and helping to influence and shape the performance of the business. This is a high impact role for a critical thinker who enjoys applying analytical skills to uncover insights and improve business performance.

You’ll complete work that is wide-ranging, spanning multiple business functions and working across multiple lines of business, and therefore you’ll need a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving and analysis. You’ll have excellent analytical skills to be able to gather information, analyze facts and draw sensible conclusions. You’ll be able to combine these skills with excellent verbal and written communication and an ability to interact with people at all levels. A strong drive for knowledge and development is crucial for the role and your future career development.

During your 27 month graduate program, you’ll complete up to four three month rotations, including rotations in Underwriting and Claims. Rotations help you to gain an understanding of a variety of areas, develop a broad skill set and build relationships across the business. Most of your rotations will take place in Manhattan (or remotely), with the potential for some time abroad if the business requires it.
After gaining a broad understanding of our business during your time on the scheme, you’ll join the Underwriting Insights team in Manhattan, where you’ll develop specialist experience in your field.

What qualifications do I need?

Evidence of high academic achievement, for example, a grade point average of 3.0 or better out of 4.0 (or equivalent). Preferred background in Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Mathematics or Risk Management and Insurance.

Previous experience with Excel, PowerPoint and databases is a plus.

Any other requirements?

You’ll be happy to be mobile for the duration of the scheme (27 months) and understand that being flexible on location after the scheme will help to accelerate your career and enable you to fulfill your potential.

You’ll be able to speak and write fluently in business English, be numerate, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate must, by the start of employment, have permission to work in the US.
You’ll be able to join the scheme in September 2021.
