Marketing Specialist - GS Engineering - Houghton, MI

GS Engineering, a diverse, high tech company located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, seeks a Marketing Specialist to join their team in Houghton, Michigan.

This position will develop, execute and monitor marketing initiatives that strengthen GS Engineering’s brand and professional image, while establishing visibility to new market segments and clients. The Specialist will research target markets and economic fluctuations, analyze trends to help define the company's marketing strategy, and develop tailored messaging for varied audiences.

To be successful in this position, you will advance the company’s outreach through media and events, with the goal of increasing inbound client support opportunities and improving GS Engineering’s competitive position.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS. Starting salary of $40,000 – $60,000 annually based on knowledge and experience in addition to a comprehensive benefit package including health, dental, vision, health savings account, 401K retirement plan, Employee Stock Ownership Program, cell phone allowance, tuition reimbursement, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and vacation days.

RESPONSIBILITIES.
Collaborates with the Business Development Team, Product Manager, Technology Growth Manager and other company staff to develop strategic and creative marketing initiatives:
  • conducts market research and analyzes trends to identify new marketing opportunities; supports new product development efforts in the areas of market identification, quantification and voice-of-customer evaluations;
  • identifies and considers economic factors and cycles of target markets;
  • monitors/analyzes the company’s competitive position while evaluating the marketing approach and messaging of known and new competitors;
  • communicates changing trends in marketing/advertising and proposes adjustment.

Brainstorms, develops and implements marketing projects across varied platforms such as email, social media, digital campaigns and industry events (conferences, tradeshows, etc.):
  • works with external agencies, consultants and vendors to execute marketing projects within budgetary constraints; travels to support events as required;
  • analyzes and reports on the performance and effectiveness of campaigns.

Writes, proofreads and edits creative and technical content across different mediums:
  • creates promotional materials such as product/service brochures, banners and technical posters;
  • develops compelling content for print, digital, web and internal communication platforms;
  • ensures brand guidelines are communicated, understood and consistently followed.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field required, or equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this position.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in marketing, advertising, web development or graphic design required.
  • Sales and customer relations experience preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills with web-based marketing/analytical tools and content management systems.
  • Skilled in developing and editing written and graphic content material with a keen eye for detail.
  • Possess strong analytical, organization and communication skills required.
  • To conform to U.S. Government regulations, candidates must be United States citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States and be able to obtain a security clearance from the Department of Defense upon hire.
