Job Summary
Lumen’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study and career interest. Interns within the GEAR Strategic Government (StratGOV) organization will be part of an accelerated learning experience and have the chance to serve their country by providing Government agencies with a powerful portfolio of solutions – robust and secure networks, powerful applications, customized system/solution development, and customer-centric methodologies that leverage cutting-edge technologies. Interns will have the potential to experience the various functions within the Federal space including – operations, contracts, program control/finance, engineering, offer management, business development. The internship will take place in locations such as Herndon, VA or remote work from home depending on intern’s location. Interns will develop their professional skills and business acumen through exposure to industry and technology leaders, groundbreaking projects, critical mission operations/support, real-world challenges, and a network of mentors. With manager recommendation and successful completion of the internship, students may receive a full-time employment offer within StratGOV and be submitted for Top Secret government clearance – opening numerous opportunities to support critical, national security contracts and requirements. Employment offer will be contingent on successful grant of clearance and completion of a second summer internship in 2022. 
 
Job Description
•  Support complete contract and customer support for new solution development and operational support within a telecommunication supplier environment
•  Analyze critical variables and develop efficient solutions to complex customer requirements
•  Perform tasks, analysis, planning, and/or documentation for technical projects and opportunities 
•  Duties may include integration and “what-if” analysis, tracking, project management, and coordination 
•  Provide information that supports strategic decision making by others for the area.
•  Follow guidelines, methodologies and/or precedents and apply judgment as necessary.
•  Assist with reporting activities 
•  Work within high performing teams to establish Customer Experience success criteria for mission requirements
•  Design customized solutions leveraging Lumen products and services
•  Explore innovations within business process
•  Provide analytical support
•  Research and collect data for various initiatives 
•  Network with internal and external constituents 
•  Interface and partner with all levels of employees 
•  Support and influence multiple projects simultaneously 
•  Provide best in class customer service 
•  Other duties as assigned 
Qualifications
•  Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0 
•  Education/Degree Status: Currently a Sophomore in a Bachelors Level degree program, Graduating December 2022 or May 2023
•  Education: Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Technical Writing, Analytics or related field of study
•  Possess a maturing knowledge of technology business and finance processes/methods 
•  Knowledge of telecommunication approaches and technologies (preferred) 
•  Capable of drawing conclusions from research and analysis and determine next steps and course of action
•  Ability to articulate a persuasive argument for a business decision through financial and business acumen within departmental boundaries.
•  Capable of learning technology specific application of business practices and applying them to changing technical approaches and business direction
•  Able to handle and analyze complex information 
•  Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines 
•  Highly motivated, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented 
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills 
•  Flexible and adapts well to change 
•  Intermediate to advanced functionality experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
•  Capable of efficient structuring and conveyance of information in verbal and written presentation formats 
•  Professional appearance and attitude 
•  Intern is responsible for their travel to/from work location 
•  Must be available to work during the specified internship timeframe; 5/26/2020 – 7/31/2020
•  US Citizenship required for Federal clearance consideration.
•  US work authorization is required
