The role: 
We are recruiting for a transportation economist to conduct analysis of projects, programs and policies and compile findings in understandable formats to share with various audiences. This important work is used to make budgetary decisions, legislative policy, select projects and adjust agency programs and policies. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Gather and validate data, cooperatively coordinating with other divisions and departments as appropriate to use in models and analysis
  • Develop analysis methodologies and procedures to evaluate defined projects, programs and policies.
  • Conduct economic analysis on assigned projects, programs and policies.
  • Assimilate data into easily understandable information for various audiences.
  • Provide analytical support and explain economic analysis processes to others, as well as support other divisions and departments on technical process steps.
  • Review and interpret federal regulations and guidance.
  • Lead defined economic analysis studies or research efforts.
  • Write statement of works, requests for proposals, intergovernmental agreements and memorandums of understanding.
  • Review and comment on work products.
  • Manage project-level scope, schedule and budget.
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with occasional travel required.
  • Occasional overtime required.
 
What we need:
A bachelor's degree in economics or a related field and three years of experience doing economic research or econometric forecasting.
Note: A master's degree in economics or related field will substitute for one year of experience. A Ph.D. in economics or related field will substitute for two years of experience.
