Education & Food Safety Internship Description
Objective: To help promote Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard (KOVE) while learning skills related to agriculture education and food safety. All KOVE interns will receive cross-training in multiple areas and must be open to other duties as assigned.
Schedule: Monday-Friday; 40-45 hours per week; some event and weekends required; flexibility available
Wage: $12/hour; generous employee discount; subsidized summer housing available near Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard
Supervisors: Dusty Bowder – General Manager
Shayna Murrell – Business & Marketing Associate/Apple Barn Team Leader
Planned Projects:
- Assist Education Team Leader with brainstorming future programming
- Prepare food safety plans to ensure protocols are met for Kimmel
- Assist with setup and organizational standards in the retail store
- Develop educational opportunities for students of all ages (Educational SOP)
- Create advertising and educational pieces to include food safety processes and procedures
- Photography of orchard events and landscapes
Eligibility and Preferred Skills:
- Students interested in education, agriculture education, and/or food safety
- Highly motivated in finding information and answers
- Ability to prioritize/execute and achieve desired project goals
- High level of communication skills and an initiative to learn
- Efficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word Press, and others as required
- 19 years of age preferable
Responsibilities:
- Management and knowledge of food safety protocols
- Assist with enforcement of protocols
- Assist with the development and execution of event planning
- Assist with general office operations
- Develop and maintain inventory ordering spreadsheets and comparisons
- Create pieces for advertising outlets
- Assist in Apple Barn retail operations
- Promotion of the orchard as well as assist with giving tours
